The Monomaster is a new fishing accessory product from Grasshopper Outdoor Products that makes storing waste monofilament easier while fishing. It is so easy to get rid even small pieces, you won't have the urge to drop it in the water or shoreline. It is no longer necessary to roll up a ball of line or leader material and stuff it in your pocket where it will become tangled and likely to end out of your pocket when you later put your hand in that pocket in search of something else. The "green way" to dispose of waste fishing line.

I recently had the pleasure to acquire and to try out a monomaster on a few early season outings. The monomaster container is 4 inches long and comfortably attaches to your vest, jacket or other packs wherever it would be easiest to access. I found the monomaster quite user friendly and actually found myself anxious to snip off a section of used tippet to just use it! The monomaster is a simple yet elegant fishing tool that actually accomplishes exactly what it was designed to do, collect and contain used fishing line. On a typical afternoon of fishing with clients (or by myself), I may go through 10-20 yards of leader materials, and the discarded material would end up as a tangled mess in a bucket on my boat or in a large plastic bag in my pocket or pack. The monomaster eliminated the frustration associated with the bag and bucket. The monomaster handles all types of line materials including; monofilaments of nylon, fluorocarbon and hi tech braids regardless of line diameter (the slot opening measures 3/8 of an inch). Once the monomaster becomes filled with waste line, simply remove the bottom end cap and cut away the collected waste and dispose of in a proper way. Snap the end cap back on and it is ready to go. The current monomaster version is sufficiently large enough to handle everyday use for an angler for probably an entire season, but for a charter boat operation, where the potential for extra large quantities of discarded line can be created from a birds nest from a spinning or conventional reel, a larger, more “industrial” sized version would be highly valued. And I have been told that a larger version is in the works. All in all I was pleased with the monomaster and would encourage any angler to get one and use it. |
This is a must have fishing accessory for all fisherman. Getting rid of waste fishing line could'nt be easier. Help keep our favorite fishing spots free of those tangled messes of monofilament. It is not expensive and totally re-usable. Watch a video clip; |
