Overview
Fly Tyer magazine is published quarterly by MCC Magazines,LLC in Atlanta, GA. The magazine is for the most part, as the title suggests, a fly fishermans guide to fly tying. The stories and features cover most all types of fly fishing venues from the salt to fresh. The staff of contributing editors supports the many venues with some very well known anglers and fly tiers. Every issue contains helpful fly tying techniques that are usually related to a fishing venue with appropriate attention paid to how to fish a species specific pattern. These articles are typically written by professional guides and captains. Their first hand knowledge and experience is evident throughout the articles.

The detailed fly tying sections are graphically supported by many useful photographs that clearly represent the fly tying steps. The recipes are complete and often describe alternative techniques and material choices. The”fishy stories” associated with the fly tying exercises are well written and entertaining. Their “tips and techniques” section most always contains something new for the beginner or experienced tyer.

If you are searching for information related to fly tying, materials, tips and techniques and fish catching tactics, Fly Tyer has much to offer. Their online homepage is packed with additional fly tying info.
