Magazine Review
Fish and Fly Magazine
2006
Reviewed By: Capt Skip Montello
Overview
Fish and Fly Magazine is published by Turnstile Publishing Co. They produce 5 issues per year at $5.99 cover price. Fish and Fly is long on features and articles and short on commercial pages. The magazine represents a diverse array of instructional material, fly tying and destination fisheries. The writing and photography are first rate….sometimes I felt like I was reading a book. Their articles and departments cover lots of interesting angling venues not always found in other magazines; I especially found the “Readers’ Fishing Log” to be most interesting. The Log is for the everyday fly angler who wants to share their photos and short stories, from across the country, covering trout and salmon, to the saltwater. The “Home Waters” section outlines fishing reports from coast to coast, sweetwater and salt. Overall, Fish and Fly presents a nicely balanced view of fly angling interests. Pick up a copy and read it through. To get a list of where to buy, or subscription information, visit their web site at the link above.
