The Giraffe lighting and magnifying system has been around for nearly 30 years. Originally made for automotive inspection, now standard in medical and dental usage, as well as among serious hobby enthusiasts, including fly tyers. Not designed as a compact travel setup, although it can be broken down for travel. Very high quality. Durable, not a flimsy, ‘make-do’ piece of equipment. I was frustrated with tying as my vision began to weaken. This system gave me a whole new lease on tying and made fly tying a real pleasure again. The large magnifier and soft light eliminated eye strain. I have now used the Giraffe system for more than 10 years. The base on mine is smaller and much thicker than on the current model, which seems to be an improvement. Equally useful for reel repairs, knot tying, and general tackle repairs and inspection. Best lighting/magnifier system I’ve seen.
