The TFO 06 90 4 P is a medium fast action 9 FT, 6 wt, 4 piece, IM6 modulus travel fly rod. It is a low to medium priced, quality rod.

The rod blank is finished with a no nonsense black matte finish with complimenting black windings and subtle trim. The up locking reel seat is constructed from braided graphite and aluminum. The single wells cork fore grip feels comfortable in your hand. The rod is well balanced and matched for most reels rated for 5,6 or 7 wgt rods. My use testing matched the rod to a Lampson LP-3 reel. I have fished this rod with floating, intermediate and weight compensated tips of up to 26 ft(200 grains).

Sometime back I decided to purchase several 4 pc pack rods that would cover most of my fishing destinations requiring air travel. I have fished the TFO 6 wt for two years under in many fishing conditions, on various waters and fish species. My primary focus for this rod is fishing large streamers over long casts. The rod has exceeded my expectations in this pursuit. The rod has also performed well for various nymphing presentations from high sticking a dead drift to swinging a sub surface fly. The rod has good tip sensitivity and power to hook set via the wrist. It also has the power to present a cast of flies, strike indicator and micro shot without bogging down. I have fished the rod dry and have been successful in making reasonably soft presentations by making modifications in the casting stroke and timing. The rod also roll casts with little effort.

Conclusion: The TFO 06 90 4pc fly rod is a quality product and performed quite well. Note: I carelessly broke one and got to test their lifetime warranty, they replaced it and I received it in less than two weeks- $25 charge per warranty.
