On the Water:

I spooled the Teeny TS-T 300 on my Hayden Barrmundi reel and mounted the reel to a 10 wt med-fast TFO Series 1 rod and later on an 8 wt fast taper Cabelas FT. Both Dave and I got to cast the line while fishing for stripers on the Merrimack River. The line handled really well with both rods, making casts of 50 to 60 feet was not an issue for either of us. Both Dave and I felt that line was a bit light for the 10 wt and just about right for the 8 wt. The line should handle well on a 9 wt as well. The one feature that most impressed me was the fact that no line tangles occured even with 50' of fly line on the deck. This characteristic is most important when you need to get the fly off the boat deck and out to the fish with as few casting strokes and tangles as possible. Striped Bass in the Merrimack River(stained water and lots of competition for food) this early in the season are not particularly spooked by a fly line so we could not determine whether the clear tip was of any advantage. We plan to use the line later this season off Cape Ann in the super clear ocean water where the larger stripers can easily be put off with any un-natural distraction.
