Introduction:
Fishpond Products sell a complete line of outdoor/fishing “container” products that include: luggage, backpacks, vests, chest packs, rod carriers, gear bags, and whole lot more. Fishpond was created with the philosophy that innovation and design be the foundation for all of their products. They seem to understand that great design is about more than dynamic color combinations and versatile fabrics. Their designs blend style with functionality, yielding products that display creativity, durability and value.

A year ago I purchased four fishpond products;

  1. Cloudburst Gear Bag
  2. Stowaway Reel Case
  3. Drifter Soft Boat Cooler
  4. Crooked Island Guide Pack
During this past year, I have used all of the bags and found the designs, overall construction and functionality to be more than satisfactory. The Cloudburst Gear Bag is constructed with snap closures, zippered compartments and a molded bag bottom. It is clear by the functionality that this bag was carefully thought out by actual anglers. The Crooked Island guide pack is another product that displayed a user friendly design. I used the pack last May in Abaco stalking bonefish on the flats and most recently, out in W NY for trout and steelhead. The pack has three separate zippered compartments that are sufficiently large enough to hold six large fly boxes, leader materials, and a variety of other tools. The fly patch on the forward pocket easily held all the flies of the day. The pack can be worn on the chest or simply slung over the shoulder. Either way was comfortable and equally convenient. I use the Drifter soft cooler bag on my flats boat and as a carry along on friend’s boats. I have found the pack to maintain food and drink temperatures for several hours. The zippers and compartment are well designed and constructed to last many years. The Stowaway reel case has ten separated compartments that can easily hold all sizes of fly reels and spools. The bag is well padded to protect your gear from short drops or other jarring situations.

Conclusion:

I doubt whether you will find any luggage or gear bags with the detail of design, the superb functionality and the overall quality of construction to compare to these products. I personally recommend the products that I have purchased and used. I look forward to purchasing the Stampede 35 inch rolling duffle as my next Fishpond Product.
